Pro-Abortion Rights Advocate Nominated for Guam Catholic School Honor
Lourdes Leon Guerrero, the president, CEO, and Chairwoman of the Board of the Bank of Guam, is one of seventeen women nominated to become one of five laureates enrolled into Guam's Academy of Our Lady's Hall of Fame. The School, run by the Religious Sisters of Mercy, will name the laureates at a Gala Banquet commemorating the school's 60th anniversary on September 4, 2009.
Ms. Leon Guerroro, a former Guam legislator, is a well known and vocal advocate for abortion rights on Guam. In 1990 she help lead the successful effort to get Guam's abortion ban overturned and she has actively opposed any attempted restrictions on abortion since then.
At this time it is unknown whether Ms. Leon Guerrero will be named one of the five laureates honored by the School, but the fact that she is even a nominee is worrisome.
