CANDIDATE SURVEY - IMPORTANT!

Esperansa Project Discussion - 5 min 15 sec ago
Dear Friends,
The primary election is less than 3 weeks away. For the first time that I am
aware of in any local election, legislation regarding grave moral issues of
concern to all of us, is on the table. However, it will be left on the table
if we do not hold our candidates to account.
In response to this challenge, Esperansa has prepared a survey we are

Dear Friends,
I just want to let you know that something major is under construction for
this upcoming election. This will be the first island wide general election
where moral issues will be in play...but only if we make them so. I should
have some more info in a couple days on how we are going to proceed. A lot

Senator Burris' Memorial Day Surprise: Abortions Return to Military Hospitals? - Politics - Catholic Online

Esperansa Project Discussion - 5 min 15 sec ago
It looks like the pro-abortion movement is pushing their agenda to involve having abortions performed in military hospitals both in the United States and Abroad. If a proposed bill passes, abortion on demand would be performed in military hospitals.

[Esperansa 293] STD's on Guam

Esperansa Project Discussion - 5 min 15 sec ago
Just found this interesting. See attached from 2008 Guam Statistical
Yearbook <[link]>.
In 2007, STD's accounted for 32.5% of all "notifiable diseases" which
Chlamydia leading the way. The other thing to note is the increase of STD's
each year. Yet we think that more sex ed is the answer? The increase in

Re: [Esperansa 292] Baby's remains found at water treatment plant

Esperansa Project Discussion - 5 min 15 sec ago
This is truly sad. Let's pray that this child serves as a witness to this terror, and that the media will shed light on this and not stifle it.
Let us take a moment now to say one Hail Mary, that more young mothers learn about CHOICES, that abortion isn't the only thing, as well as pray for chastity.

[Esperansa 291] Baby's remains found at water treatment plant

Esperansa Project Discussion - 5 min 15 sec ago
So what is the legal way of disposing of a corpse...be it the result of a
procured or spontaneous abortion? Obviously the baby was old enough to
recognize as a baby, so chances are it was 2nd trimester. What's the
difference if they get flushed down a toilet or thrown in the dumpster
behind the clinic?

[Esperansa 290] Bill 185 and the Gubernatorial Election

Esperansa Project Discussion - 5 min 15 sec ago
Esperansa Friends,

This email was written primarily for Catholics as it refers in several
places to official Catholic teaching on the issue of same-sex unions and the
responsibility of Catholic voters. I realize many on our Esperansa mailing
list are not Catholic. However, I believe we are all together on this

[Esperansa 289] Arizona: A Learning Opportunity for Catholics

Esperansa Project Discussion - 5 min 15 sec ago
Over the weekend, Arizona passed two bills into law that present a curious
but important opportunity for Catholics, especially as we approach the 2010
elections both nationally and locally. I wrote a short post on it which you

I don't know what the Archdiocese has in mind at the higher levels, but I
believe it's time for us little people to speak up.

1. We abhor sexual improprieties of any kind by our religious leaders and we
ask that offenders be summarily dealt with by both civil and church
authorities.
2. We demand that the Media stop reporting this scandal as if it is unique

[Esperansa 287] a quick note

Esperansa Project Discussion - 5 min 15 sec ago
Friends, a quick note on the email I sent out earlier regarding Bill 372.
After receiving some professional advice, I feel that the best way to deal
with Bill 372 will not be to question its constitutionality (bill of
attainder) as such a route can get quite complex. The fact that the
legislation specifically calls out a particular religion and a particular

quick update for this afternoon

Esperansa Project Discussion - 5 min 15 sec ago
Friends,
Due to the size of the health bill and the uncertainty as to how it will
specifically impact Guam as regards abortion, we are holding off on the
introduction of our bill and will instead attempt to make a public statement
regarding the "potential" for abortion funding in the bill if we are
allowed.
